Summer Program - During the summer of 2019, 94 high school student volunteers and 8 adult supervisors traveled from the United States to India in order to teach life skills to underprivileged juveniles and orphans in 3 different locations in India, including Baroda, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. In the city of Baroda, Uplift Humanity had 40 high school student volunteers teach at two different facilities and impacted the lives of 100 orphans and juveniles. In the city of Mumbai, Uplift Humanity had 43 high school volunteers teaching at two facilities with 87 orphans and juveniles impacted. In Hyderabad, 11 high school volunteers taught at one facility impacting the lives of 45 juveniles. Academic Program - The academic program of Uplift Humanity India strives to help orphans and juveniles learn to read, speak and write the English language in the hopes of giving them the tools they need to increase their prospects for a successful career upon leaving their current facility. In addition, the children are taught basic health information and hygiene skills as well, so they know how to take care of themselves as well as present themselves to others. During 2019, Uplift Humanity India taught the academic program in 4 cities throughout India, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai. The program ran 2 to 3 days per week, depending on the location, and the teachers were from the local area. Uplift Humanity teachers taught at a total of 9 facilities within these cities, and impacted the lives of 376 children in total. In addition, Uplift Humanity India made contributions of almost $1,200 to three facilities for the purpose of improving the facilities.
