CENTRO DE AYUDA LEGAL PARA INMIGRANTES'(CALI) MAIN MISSION SINCE ITS CREATION WAS TO PROVIDE QUALITY LEGAL REPRESENTATION TO THE LOW-INCOME IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY. ON MAY 2015, CALI OPENED A NEW OFFICE IN GILROY, CALIFORNIA, TO SERVE THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY LIVING IN MONTEREY, SANTA CRUZ, AND SAN BENITO COUNTIES. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2017, CALI BEGAN DOING PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENTS ON LIVE TV AND PARTICIPATING IN COMMUNITY PHONE BANKING.IT HAS BEEN A PART OF CALI'S MISSION TO OFFER LEGAL REPRESENTATION AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION TO PEOPLE WHO WERE BROUGHT INTO THE COUNTRY ILLEGALLY AT A VERY YOUNG AGE BY THEIR PARENTS. (SEE SCHEDULE O FOR DESCRIPTION OF ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS)IN A TIME WITH UNPRECEDENTED ANTI-IMMIGRANT SENTIMENT, CALI HAS MADE IT PART OF ITS MISSION TO FURTHER EDUCATE IMMIGRANTS ON THEIR RIGHTS. IN FISCAL YEAR 2024, CALI CONTINUED TO EDUCATE IMMIGRANTS ON THEIR RIGHTS AND OFFER QUALITY REPRESENTATION TO THE LOW-INCOME COMMUNITY INIMMIGRATION MATTERS AS WELL AS REMOTE SERVICES. FOR CASES THAT REQUIRE IMMIGRATION COURT REPRESENTATION, CALI OFFERS GUIDANCE AND REFERRALS WHILE EXPLAINING THE INITIAL STEPS OF REMOVAL DEFENSE. ALL OF REFERRAL WORK IS DONE ON A PRO-BONO BASIS. CALI HAS INCREASED ITS REPRESENTATION OF UNACCOMPANIED CHILDREN BEFORE USCIS AND IN GUARDIANSHIP HEARINGS AS WELL AS OUR EFFORTS TO NATURALIZE AS MANY IMMIGRANTS POSSIBLE BEFORE THE ELECTION SO THAT THEIR VOICES MAY BE HEARD.
