The Climate and Environmental Justice Program is dedicated to reducing disparities in air pollution exposure and climate resilience in low-income and disadvantaged communities, including 1) expanding electric vehicle (EV) access for low-income families by streamlining pathways to state and federal credits and incentives and assisting families in navigating the application process, 2) operating a regional air monitoring network in partnership with school districts, academic institutions, regulatory agencies and community-based organizations to provide real-time air quality information and alerts to residents in rural and disadvantaged communities across the San Joaquin Valley, 3) facilitating community engagement, education and advocacy related to local air pollution sources and mitigation strategies, and 4) promoting climate resilience strategies in disadvantaged communities that include access to state and federal incentives to decarbonize residential buildings, reducing climate emissions and improving indoor air quality.
