FAR has partnered with 51 students and their families providing scholarship assistance and education materials. Due to an increase in violence and related gang activity throughout Haiti FAR provided for food and temporary housing as families fled their homes. Also, resulting medical emergencies and funerals have forced families to need attiional support. Several of our university students had their academic years interrupted due to gang forcing university closures. Similarly, the majority of our elementary and high school students face the same challenges. It is unclear when the institutions will re-open. We remain in contact through social media and phone calls. We are able and continue to hope for improved conditions country wide.
