THE BROOKMEADE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION, THROUGH ITS FUNDRAISING EFFORTS PROVIDES SIGNIFICANT SUPPORT TO THE BAPTIST HOME AND ITS NEW DAY PROGRAM. THE BAPTIST HOME IS A NON-PROFIT CORPORATION WHOSE PURPOSE AND MISSION IS TO ENCHANCE THE SANCTITY OF LIFE FOR THE AGED BY PROMOTING AND PROVIDING QUALITY CARE IN A LOVING ENVIRONMENT THAT SUPPORTS THEIR SOCIAL, MEDICAL AND SPIRTUAL NEEDS WHILE ENCOURAGING INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT. THE BAPTIST HOME IS ONE OF THE PREMIERE LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES IN DUTCHESS COUNTY, RECEIVING THE HIGHEST HONOR OF A 5 STAR RATING FROM THE CENTER OF MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES. THE BAPTIST HOME HAS AN AWARD WINNING AND INNOVATIVE ACTIVITIES PROGRAM NEW DAY (NURTURING EVERYONE WITH DIVERSE ACTIVITIES YEAR-ROUND). NEW DAY IS AN INNOVATIVE AND THERAPEUTIC PROGRAM UNIQUE TO THE BAPTIST HOME AT THE COMMUNITY AT BROOKMEADE. IT IS A PERSON-CENTERED ACTIVITIES PROGRAM PROVIDING A STRUCTURED AND NURTURING ENVIRONMENT ADMINISTERED BY TRAINED PROFESSIONALS WHICH OFFERS PARTCIPANTS THE LIBERTY TO PURSUE INDEPENDENT LEISURE ACTIVITIES. THIS PROGRAM ALLOWS OUR RESIDENTS TO FILL THEIR DAYS WITH THE EXPRESSION OF FEELINGS AND CREATIVITY, FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXERCISE INDIVIDUAL CHOICE. NEW DAY HAS INCORPORATED ART THERAPY AND "MUSIC & MEMORY", A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAM FOUND TO BE EFFECTIVE IN RECONNECTING THOSE WITH DEMENTIA TO THE WORK AROUND THEM. THE POSITIVE AND MEASURABLE RESULTS OF NEW DAY HAVE RESULTED IN -REDUCED USE OF PSYCHO-PHARMACEUTICAL MEDICATIONS - FEWER INCIDENTS AND ACCIDENTS- REDUCED USE OF RESTRAINTS TO 0% - INCREASED RESIDENT INDEPENDENCE, MOBILITY, COMMUNICATION, SOCIALIZATION, HEALTHY WEIGHTS, AND POSITIVE INTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS. ALL OF THESE FACTORS POSITIVELY IMPACT THE QUALITY OF LIFE EXPERIENCED BY OUR RESIDENTS.
