Sacred Valley Health is a community-based, public health organization that partners with rural, indigenous communities in the Andes of Peru. Our core purpose is to improve the health and well-being of these underserved, marginalized communities through a community health worker program that empowers local women with education, resources, professional development, and economic opportunities. We use a community partner approach, working with remote villages to increase access to health knowledge and health care. We have developed a customized curriculum, designed specifically for indigenous health workers, that focuses on preventative health measures for individual behavior change and health issues relevant to this region of Peru such as first aid, maternal and child health, respiratory disease, diarrhea, nutrition, and patient advocacy.
