Northeastern Mental Health Center (the Center) was incorporated in 1955, as a non-profit corporation under the laws of the State of South Dakota. The primary purpose of the Center is to operate a mental health center in Brown County, South Dakota, for the benefit of Brown County and the surrounding counties of Spink, Marshall, Day, Walworth, McPherson, Faulk, Edmunds, and Campbell (catchment area). The Center provides a multi-phased program of outpatient, community-based, and emergency services for any person residing in the service area, regardless of their ability to pay. The Center extends credit to patients within the catchment area.Continued on Schedule OCommunity-based services The Center provides mental health services to consumers in the catchment area. Services are provided in the home, community or the office at the discretion of the individuals served.Substance abuse treatment The Center offers clients a variety of treatments to suit their needs and improve their success. Group and individual counseling are available. Goals are identified and personalized wellness plans are created to get clients in a better place in life. The programming also meets the requirements for those ordered to seek treatment by the court. Evaluation, day intensive outpatient program, and outpatient treatment are available to adults and adolescents.Impact The Center provides a comprehensive, person-centered, recovery-focused, and co-occurring system to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services to identified clients with serious mental illness, in particular those who require the most intensive services.Medical office Psychiatric services are provided in an office setting by a Certified Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatrist with support from a Registered Nurse and Medical Assistant.NEMHC provides psychiatric, mental health services and substance abuse services to clients in a 9 county catchment area. Services are provided in the home, community or office at the discretion of the individuals served. In FY2025, psychiatric services were provided to 516 adults (over 21 years old) and 7 children. Mental Health (psychotherapy) Services were provided to 1,348 adults and 875 children. Substance Abuse services were provided to 227 adults and 53 children.
