Youth Company & Antananarivo Clubhouse: 2023 was a big year for Zara Aina. The Zara Aina team finished the construction on the permanent Center on the land we own. The Malagasy Staff continued programming at the Zara Aina rented Center and moved into the permanent Center in May with a grand opening in June. There was a two day event to celebrate with families and hundreds of local community members. There were special performances, an Art Exhibit, cultural rituals and a reception. Throughout the rest of the year, the Center provided Zara Aina signature theatrical and dance programming. The Zara Aina Center continued their partnerships with fellow NGO, Manda, the Ministry of Youth and throughout 2023. The Malagasy Staff exposed the students to numerous professional guest artists in 2023including several dance workshops. Our 4th year students participated in a two-day workshop with a French dance troupe to create a routine to be performed at the French Institute of Madagascar.Sports in Antananarivo, The British School, and the local grocery chain, Bii (formerly Foodwise), Diary Nofy: a project of Teach for Madagascar, and Un Enfant Par La Main. The students continued taking English and French classes and doing vigorous test prep
