EQUITABLE ACCESS - PROJECT GROWS PROVIDES EQUITABLE ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE AND NUTRITIOUS FOODS TO SUPPORT HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES FOR PEOPLE OF ALL AGES IN OUR COMMUNITY. PROGRAMS INCLUDE FOOD DONATIONS TO COMMUNITIES IN NEED AS WELL AS A MOBILE MARKET THAT ANNUALLY DELIVERS 7,000 POUNDS OF FRESH, AFFORDABLE FOOD DIRECTLY TO SENIOR CENTERS, PUBLIC HOUSING, AND CHILDCARE CENTERS. IN ADDITION,PROJECT GROWS MANAGES AND PROMOTES NUTRITION INCENTIVES AT MARKETS THAT REDUCE BARRIERS TO HEALTHY FOOD AND ENABLE MORE THAN 2,400 PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY TO EAT HEALTHIER EACH YEAR. ADDITIONALLY, PROJECT GROWS SUPPORTS OUR REGIONAL FOOD SYSTEM BY FACILITIATING THE WAYNESBORO FARMERS MARKET AS A MARKETPLACE FOR OVER 30 LOCAL PRODUCERS AND BY PROMOTING THE USE OF NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAMS AT OTHER COMMUNITY FOOD OUTLETS ACROSS THE REGION.
