A primary focus of the work this year was to address food insecurity and social isolation of older people across ME, NH, VT, NY, and MA. This was accomplished by standing up a learning network across the region, focused on programs that work to address these issues. Another part of the work was to offer micro-grants to organizations for sustainable activities that would strengthen food access and social inclusion of older people.

MCOA is advancing informed and innovative solutions to the barriers that stand in the way of us all living healthy, engaged, and secure lives as we age at home and in community settings. This work spans many sectors and issues, including housing, transportation, workforce, both ensuring an adequate direct care workforce and ensuring older workers are included as a part of the solution to Maine's workforce shortage, care across all settings, and support for family care partners.
