PCAN IS AN ALLIANCE OF PUBLIC, PRIVATE, FAITH-BASED AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THAT OPERATES A FULL RANGE OF PRIMARY AND SECONDARY CARE SERVICES. THE ORGANIZATION WAS ENVISIONED AND FORMED BY SEVERAL LOCAL HEALTH CARE RELATED PROVIDERS PRIMARILY TO MEET THE HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF THE UNINSURED AND UNDERINSURED IN THE CENTRAL FLORIDA AREA.THE PCAN MODEL IS CENTERED AROUND COMMUNITY BASED FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTERS (FQHC) THAT SERVE AS MEDICAL HOMES FOR UNINSURED PATIENTS. THE FQHCS PROVIDE PRIMARY CARE ON A SLIDING FEE SCALE AND INCLUDES MEDICAID, MEDICARE, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE PAYER SOURCES AS WELL AS FEDERAL GRANTS AND SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING FROM LOCAL COUNTY GOVERNMENT. URGENT CARE IS OFFERED AT CERTAIN FAITH-BASED VOLUNTEER CLINICS AND A CENTRALIZED SECONDARY CARE CLINIC PROVIDES SPECIALTY CARE, DIAGNOSTIC AND HOSPITAL SERVICES.
