FY 2024-2025 THIS YEAR, WE ARE BEGINNING THE HARVEST SEASON WITH SEVERAL VARITIES OF VEGETABLES THAT WE INTEND TO SELL, DONATE, AND ENJOY. AS OF LATE AUGUST 2024, WE HAVE ALREADY HARVESTED MANY POUNDS OF FOOD, INCLUDING ZUCCHINI, CORN,SQUASH, TOMATOES AND CUCUMBERS. OUR HUMBLE HARVEST THUS FAR HAS BEEN MOSTLY DONATED. NFO HAS CONTINUED OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH A LOCAL REGENERATIVE RANCHER TO IMPLEMENT ADAPTIVE GRAZING ON THE 24-ACRE PASTURE ON OUR PROPERTY THAT HAD BEEN NEGLECTED AND OVERRUN BY NOXIOUS WEEDS. THE PASTURE CONTINUES TO BE REHABILITATED AND EASILY SUPPORTS THE GRAZING CATTLE. NFO ALSO RE-ESTABLISHED A WORKING RELATIONSHIP WITH AMERICORPS NCCC, THE TEAM-BASED NATIONAL SERVICE PROGRAM THAT HAS PLAYED A CRITICAL ROLE IN NFO'S DEVELOPMENT AND SUCCESS OVER THE YEARS. THE GROUP THAT WORKED ON THE FARM IN THE FALL HELPED TO CLEAN, ORGANIZE AND BEAUTIFY OUR BARN AND SECURE OUR ANIMAL SHELTER. NFO STARTED TH FISCAL YEAR WITH A FULL STAFF, EMPLOYING VETERANS AND MILITARY FAMILY MEMBERS. OUR FARMER MANAGER HELPED BRING IN A HARVEST IN THE FALL AND WORKED TO GET THE GROW ROOM BUILDING IN WORKING ORDER ALONG WITH 2 FARM WORKERS. THESE FARMER WORKERS HELPED TO MOVE THE GROWING OPERATION FROM STARTS IN THE GROW ROOM TO 2 LARGE GARDENS ON THE PROPERTY.
