In 2025, IANGEL expanded its work to advance gender justice through education, advocacy, and engagement of pro bono legal resources concerning reproductive freedom, womens leadership and empowerment, and global peace and security issues. We hosted an international panel discussion in conjunction with the 69th meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and continued multiple projects to fight gender apartheid in Afghanistan. These projects included (1) supporting underground schools to educate girls and women in Afghanistan; (2) comprehensive legal research and analysis of Taliban edicts as violations of international law, (3) producing a video honoring the late Afghan poet Nadia Anjuman and showcasing contemporary artworks of the resistance in Afghanistan, and (4) providing economic and professional support to women lawyers and psycho-social professionals in Afghanistan, enabling them in turn to help women in crisis in their communities. We also forged a new partnership with Stanford law students to update and refine a new curriculum to teach teenagers about their reproductive rights in the post-Roe era, and we added new legal research to our Girls Rights Project, to provide support for intersectional advocacy concerning reproductive freedom, FGM, and child marriage.
