Over a transformative 12-week period, 1,421 girls across Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties participated in an after-school program like no other. The Girls on the Run curriculum is designed to empower girls to recognize their inner strength and inspire them to define their lives on their own terms. With the support of 600 dedicated volunteers of which 421 were trained coaches they lead 89 teams. Participants engaged in lessons promoting positive emotional, social, mental, and physical development. Topics covered included managing emotions, building healthy relationships, internet safety, combating cyberbullying, and resisting harmful behaviors like eating disorders and substance use. These discussions encourage girls to explore their values, develop self-confidence, and prepare to navigate challenges they may face. The season culminated in the Girls on the Run 5K, a celebratory event uniting the community. This year, 4,500 attendees came together, including participants, families, and supporters. This impactful program not only fosters personal growth for the girls involved but also builds stronger, more supportive communities.
