Nearby are two acres of land that provide fresh vegetables for the kitchen. Founded by Sister Elizabeth Smith, whose dream was to feed the sick, the elderly, the poor and those most in need, the soup kitchen became a reality. Her mission continues with volunteers preparing and serving the meals one day a week. Volunteers also deliver meals to many homebound people. A nurse is also present at lunch.
