Senior Citizens Action Group

The Senior Social Center is all about connections in the Senior Center. We provide opportunity for socialization through robust variety of programing, including a full gym, exerise classes, art, dancing, tax help, music, educational speakers and classes, games, andspecial events. The Senior Outreach Services program (SOS) which reaches out to clients in need of socialization and encouragment, who are often homebound, frail, and/or low-income, providing them with consistent check-ins, with calls, and home visits. Cards for birthdays, holidays, enouragement and bereavement. We occasionally visit groups at senior housing, assisted living and care facilities. For some individuals this is the only personal contact they have throughtout the week. Our Resource Navigator sits down one-on-one with invidudals in need to help them find and apply for resources and services needs. We run a Medicare SHIP program to help navigate signing up for Medicare and plan issues. This program makes such a difference in peoples lives, by helping them make the best choices for their health and finances as they grow older. Our services are free and confidential. We do not sell or endorse health plans. Colorado SHIP is part of a national network of programs. Counselors go through rigorous training and are required to continue training as long as they serve as a counselor.
