Our Annual Passive House Symposium is a one-day, intensive educational event feature presentations and Q&A for architects, engineers, builders, building owners, developers, government officials, students, other Passive House professionals, and the general public. It featured four technical sessions and a Keynote address by Massachusetts' Undersecretary of Decarbonization & Resilience. The event had 206 attendees. Presentation slides are available at https://phmass.org/symposium24/. Expenses include venue rental, audiovisual equipment rental, and food for attendees.

Our second main program service is providing regular and on-demand training and education programing for architects, contractors, engineers, town officials, developers, homeowners, and others on high-performance buildings and the Passive House standard, including Lunch and Learns, Workshops, Presentations, Case Studies, and related content. We held 15 of these training events reaching 675 participants. Video recordings of our events (available publicly in our Video Library at https://passivehousema.org/video-library) reached a further 1,591 people. Expenses include contractor labor to organize, prepare, and deliver these events.

Our third main program service is conducting research to assess the training needs of the high-performance building industry, the barriers and obstacles involved, the availability of existing training programs, and provide recommendations for future program development. We compiled existing data on contractors and their current role in clean energy and Passive House construction through an in-depth survey of 19 contractors. We analyzed the Passive House and High-Performance Building market and identified potential growth areas. We developed an outreach plan for contractors in the construction, contracting, trades and related industries. And we shared the results with peer organizations. This work was supported by a $50,000 grant from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (reported in Part VIII, line 1). Expenses include contractor labor to conduct this research.
