Grant to support Design Tech & Art Proposal - Transforming STEM to STEAM submitted by the American Community School of Abu Dhabi ACS to equip students with the resources and opportunities needed to make a positive impact on their world technology and play a pivotal role in helping them realize our mission. ACS technological investments over the years have laid the foundation for a new generation of innovators by deepening our Science Technology Engineering and Math STEM programs and growing innovation labs. This grant enriched ACS art and design efforts transforming STEM to STEAM providing a way for ACS to make that transformation by providing students with the skills and tools to express their creativity in the digital medium. Students are able to design and create more organically with digital tools with a collection of school-supplied shared iPads with Apple pencils equipped with software like Procreate a professional digital drawing platform. These devices would be shared by Visual Art and Design Technology classes in grades KG-5. Teachers would be able to collaborate with the Office of Learning Innovation and Technology to develop and implement innovative pedagogical strategies to use the technologies in the curriculum. 24 iPads and Apple Pencils along with 24 Procreate licenses as well as 24 cases and 2 small carts to keep the devices secure and charged were purchased and implemented into the Elementary Technology Program at ACS.
