This past year, Feeding Hands distributed 1.19 million pounds of food during 11,700 family visits from our main location and three satellites in Central NJ. This is an average of $247 of groceries per family visit of which 27% was fresh produce: 16% was fresh or frozen meat, fish, and dairy; and 6% was fresh breads and bakery. Feeding Hands includes essential items beyond food to include personal care, laundry detergent, pet food, diapers, adult incontinence, and feminine hygiene products to every family who needs it. We connect families to support services such as healthcare and insurance programs and make connections to government programs such as SNAP. We also distribute childrens books each month to all families with children to feed young minds in addition to feeding bodies. With a unique approach, we cultivate contagious volunteerism to involve the community in helping their neighbors which serves to build bridges within the communities that we serve. Volunteers donated 28,000 hours of service in 2024 which, if paid to staff would have cost $935,000.
