IN 2015, CBMA SPUN OFF FROM THE OPEN SOCIETY FOUNDATIONS AS AN INDEPENDENT ENTITY WHICH SUPPORTS A GROWING NETWORK OF MORE THAN 4,700 INDIVIDUALS REPRESENTING MORE THAN 2,500 ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, WITH RESOURCES AND SERVICES FOR CAPACITY BUILDING, NETWORK BUILDING, AND STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS.

SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2008, CBMA HAS GROWN ITS MEMBER NETWORK TOINCLUDE OVER 5,000 LEADERS REPRESENTING NEARLY 2,000 ORGANIZATIONS AND PROGRAMS SERVING BLACK MEN AND BOYS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IN 2017, CBMA DEEPENED ITS GRANT-SUPPORTED HIGH SCHOOL EXCELLENCE (HSE) FRAMEWORK TO ELEVATE YOUNG BLACK MEN AND BOYS' PREPARATION TO FULLY PARTICIPATE IN COLLEGE, CAREER AND COMMUNITY BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL COMPLETION. IN ADDITION TO ESTABLISHING CBMA'S STRATEGIC DIRECTION FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS, CBMA DELIVERED SERVICES AND SUPPORTS TO THE BLACK MALE ACHIEVEMENT (BMA) FIELD THROUGH CAPACITY-BUILDING, NETWORK/MOVEMENT-BUILDING, STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS AND FIELD PROMOTIONS. CBMA SERVES AS A NATIONAL LEAD ORGANIZATION THAT OFFERS SUPPORTS AND OPPORTUNITIES LIKE THE SIGNATURE RUMBLE YOUNG MAN, RUMBLE (RYMR) CONVENING HOSTED ANNUALLY IN LOUISVILLE, KY AND DETROIT, MI. IN RESPONSE TO ISSUES AND TOPICS IDENTIFIED VIA THE BMA FIELD, CBMA SOLIDIFIED ITS NATIONAL ROLE AS A CONNECTOR AND CONVENER OF LEADERS AND ORGANIZATIONS. CBMA CONNECTS MEMBERSHIP LEADERS WITH MONTHLY NETWORK CONFERENCE CALLS AND RECURRING GATHERINGS WHERE THEY SHARE BEST PRACTICES, DEVELOP COLLABORATIONS, AND FOSTER WELL-BEING. IN 2017, CBMA LAUNCHED BUILDING BELOVED COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIP TO STRENGTHEN INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY OF LEADERS FROM CBMA'S PROMISE OF PLACE CITIES.
