SUMMIT SISTERS - HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS PARTICIPATED IN THE 2025 SUMMIT SISTERS PROGRAM. SUMMIT SISTERS IS A FIVE-MONTH LEADERSHIP, FITNESS, AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS IN COLLIER COUNTY. GIRLS MEET TWICE WEEKLY. THE FIRST MEETING OF THE WEEK IS FOCUSED ON LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND PERSONAL GROWTH. THE SECOND WEEKLY MEETING IS FITNESS AND HOLSTIC WELLBEING FOCUSED. THE PROGRAM BEGAN IN EARLY 2025 AND CULMINATED WITH AN 8-DAY BACKPACKING EXPEDITION TO MONTANA IN JUNE. LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES INCLUDE, VISION AND GOAL SETTING, COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES, CONFLICT RESOLUTION DISCUSSION, TRUST BUILDING, YOGA, MEDITATION, FITNESS AND MORE.THE MULTI-DAY EXPEDITION FOCUSED ON TEACHING GIRLS FUNDAMENTAL OUTDOOR SKILLS SUCH AS COOKING, CAMPING, AND NAVIGATION WHILE DEVELOPING LEADERSHIP SKILLS AS AN INDIVIDUAL AND MEMBER OF AN EXPEDITIONARY GROUP. PARTICIPANTS WERE CHALLENGED PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY WHILE HIKING MOST DAYS WITH HEAVY PACKS IN A CHANGING ALPINE ENVIRONMENT. WHILE NAVIGATING THROUGH MOUNTAIN TERRAIN, GIRLS ENGAGED IN LESSONS ABOUT 'LEAVE NO TRACE' CAMPING PRINCIPLES AND LEARNED HOW TO WORK AS A TEAM TO ACCOMPLISH COMMON EXPEDITION GOALS.
