Emergency Response Program - In its fourth year of service, the Peacekeeper Society is on the front lines of the Covid-19 crisis distributing emergency supplies (sanitizer, masks, PPE's, and gloves), food, water, and cleaning supplies to Tribal members in need throughout the Northwest Pacific Region. We distribute and deliver an average of 10,000 lbs. of food and supplies each week. The Peacekeeper Society is working tirelessly to protect elders, mothers, small children in kinship care, and vulnerable families. Grief Recovery Program - This program uses a grief recovery best practices model that incorporates a Trauma-Informed Care approach for healing from any type of loss, such as death, employment, divorce, separation, and the debilitating impact from the loss of health. Our program is an action-oriented plan that uses experiential group activities along with reading and writing assignments to help Tribal members to reclaim their lives. This program provides 8-week Grief Recovery Support Groups and one-on-one individual counseling sessions to Tribal families and organizations throughout the year. Traditional Food Program - Our Yakama people still maintain a strong hunting, gathering, and fishing culture. This program enhances that lifestyle by teaching community members how to properly harvest and process wild foods using modern and traditional methods. It is facilitated by a team of certified Master Food Preservers who are also hunters, gatherers, and fishermen/women. The goal is to teach families how to safely preserve food and stock their pantries with deer, elk, buffalo, salmon, berries, and roots.
