Housing Development and Neighborhood Stabilization EDNDC undertakes housing development and stabilization activities to improve the quality availability and affordability of housing in East Dayton. EDNDC rehabilitated a residential property in the Ruskin West neighborhood for homeownership and acquired multiple vacant lots and properties in the Twin Towers neighborhood to support future infill housing development. EDNDC collaborated with the Montgomery County Land Reutilization Corporation Land Bank and the County Corporation to pursue funding through the Ohio Department of Development to support single-family housing development and neighborhood revitalization efforts. We forged a partnership with Home Inc. to advance the exploration and implementation of a community land trust model in East Dayton. This partnership is intended to support long-term housing affordability strengthen neighborhood stability and expand pathways to sustainable homeownership. We devised a strategic plan as a roadmap for neighborhood stabilization and revitalization. These activities contribute to reducing vacancy and blight increasing homeownership opportunities and supporting long-term neighborhood stability.

Community Engagement and Public Space Activation EDNDC supports resident engagement and community-building initiatives designed to strengthen neighborhood connections and increase participation in revitalization efforts. EDNDC developed and opened the Ruskin Commons community gathering space funded through American Rescue Plan Act ARPA and Community Development Block Grant CDBG resources. Ruskin Commons serves as a central location for community events meetings and neighborhood activities providing residents with a safe and accessible space to gather share information and build relationships.
