Inteleos, through its councils, the American registry for diagnostic medical sonography (ARDMS) and the alliance for physician certification and advancement (APCA) and the point-of-care ultrasound certification academy (PCA) delivers rigorous assessments and cultivates a global community of professionals dedicated to the highest standards in healthcare and patient safety. Inteleos and its councils award certifications in diagnostic medical sonography (RDMS), adult, pediatric and fetal cardiac sonography (RDCS), vascular technology (RVT), musculoskeletal sonography (RMSKS and RMSK), physicians' vascular interpretation (RPVI and RPVI-China), Latin American ultrasound, cardiovascular computed tomography (CBCCT), cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CBCMR), and nuclear cardiology (CBNC) certifications. Inteleos also awards certifications in midwife sonography with point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) specialty certificates with certifications in emergency medicine, POCUS generalist, POCUS musculoskeletal, and global POCUS principles. Several Inteleos programs are accredited through the International Standards Organization (ISO) 17024 program and is widely recognized by major medical associations around the world. Credentials awarded by Inteleos are widely accepted in the medical community, by UltraSound and vascular professional organizations, including the American College of Radiology, the American Institute of UltraSound in Medicine, the American Society of Echocardiography, the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, The International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery, the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, The Society for Vascular Surgery, The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, and The Society of Vascular Technology. The examinations are developed by exam development task forces made up of volunteer subject matter experts. The task forces survey job functions and practices in various specialties and develop test questions based upon a blueprint of job tasks in ultrasound. Task forces consist of sonographers, vascular technologists, physicians, and scientists. The members of each task force are knowledgeable in the subject area of the particular examination. The only means of obtaining an Inteleos credential is by examination. Required examination prerequisites must be met before an applicant can take an Inteleos examination. An applicant may not use a credential offered by Inteleos until the credential has been earned and the applicant has received official notification by Inteleos. Additional credentials may be earned by successfully completing the specialty exams. Registrant renewals: yearly renewal fee to maintain active status.
