The North Bergen Firemens Relief Association provides benefits for the needy and aged active and/or otherwise qualified fire persons and their families and those injured, incapacitated or killed in the performance of their duties. The Association provides financial assistance to those qualified members who file an application and demonstrate a need. Assistance from the Association include burial benefits, local relief, special relief and supplemental relief. Funding for these benefits comes from a levy on all fire insurance premiums written by insurance companies charted outside the State of New Jersey and paid to the New Jersey State Firemens Association. These funds are then distributed and forwarded to the respective Local Relief Associations. The State of New Jersey and all the Local Relief Associations around the State of New Jersey strive for the best interests of all firefighters and their families and continue to encourage a fraternity of all firefighters.
