IN DECEMBER 2014, THE CAROLYN BOONE LEWIS HEALTH CENTER SOLD ALL OF ITS ASSETS USED IN OPERATION OF THE NURSING HOME INCLUDING THE REAL ESTATE TO ANOTHER OPERATOR. THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES HAS DIRECTED CORPORATE MANAGEMENT TO OVERSEE THE ORDERLY TRANSITION OF THE BUSINESS TO THE NEW OWNER AND WIND DOWN ALL ACTIVITY RELATED TO THE NURSING HOME OPERATION INCLUDING COLLECTION OF ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE AND COST REPORT SETTLEMENTS AND PAYMENT OF EXPENSES RELATED TO THE OPERATION.ALL REMAINING ASSETS OF THE ORGANIZATION WILL BE USED TO CONTINUE THE ORIGINAL CHARITABLE PURPOSE OF THE CAROLYN BOONE LEWIS HEALTH CARE CENTER WHICH IS: TO ESTABLISH, OWN, OPERATE, CONTROL, CONDUCT, MAINTAIN AND/OR PROVIDE ADVICE, CONSULTATION OR ASSISTANCE IN THE OPERATION OF A CENTER FOR AGING PERSONS - TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH CARE AND GENERAL WELFARE OF AGING PERSONS IN THE COMMUNITY SERVED BY THE GREATER SOUTHEAST COMMUNITY HOSPITAL; AND TO ENGAGE IN AND CONDUCT ALL BUSINESS NECESSARY OR SUITABLE FOR THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE FOREGOING PURPOSES- TO STUDY, ADVANCE AND PROMOTE THE SCIENCE OF GERIATRIC MEDICINE, CLINICAL RESEARCH AND THE DELIVERY OF HEALTH CARE TO AGING PERSONS;- TO PROVIDE FOR THE CARE, TREATMENT, HOUSING, AND GENERAL WELFARE OF AGING PERSONS WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, CREED, NATIONALITY OR SEXTHESE CHARITABLE PURPOSES WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS WITH THE SIMILAR MISSIONS.
