The Maryland Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics (MDAAP) is a professional membership organization of pediatricians and pediatric healthcare providers in Maryland, advocating for Maryland's children and adolescents since 1950. The MDAAP initiates and supports advocacy efforts and programs and partnerships with public and private agencies that respond to the needs of Maryland's children and adolescents to address focus areas including: social determinants of health and systemic barriers to access;foster care; children with special health care needs; disaster preparedness; early childhood interventions; emotional and mental health; safe and resilient communities; immunizations; injury and poison prevention; oral health; school and community-based health; and the prevention of gun violence. MDAAP's active partners include: Baltimore City Health Department; Johns Hopkins University; Maryland Board of Pharmacy; Maryland Dental Action Coalition; Maryland Department of Health; Maryland State Department of Education; Maryland Family Network; Mental Health Association of Maryland; Sinai Hospital of Baltimore; The Horizon Foundation; The Bainum Family Foundation; The Parents' Place of Maryland; and University of Maryland.
