TEMPORARY CLINICS - MISSION OF MERCY ("MOM") CLINICS PROVIDE FREE DENTAL CARE TO THOSE IN NEED. THE FOUNDATION SUPPORTS THESE AND SIMILAR CLINICS AROUND THE STATE OF MARYLAND IN A VARIETY OF WAYS - MOST IMPORTANTLY BY VOLUNTEERING. THE WORK DONE AT THESE CLINICS IS DEPENDENT ON THE DEDICATION OF VOLUNTEERS, DENTAL PROFESSIONALS, AND TECHNICIANS. THE MOM CLINICS ARE DESIGNED TO TREAT PATIENTS NOW AND TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT ORAL HEALTH COVERAGE INEQUALITIES. THE WORK DONE AT THESE CLINICS IS ONLY A STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TOWARD DECREASING THESE DISPARITIES. THERE REMAINS A GREAT NEED FOR FURTHER EDUCATION AND FUNDAMENTAL, SYSTEMIC SUPPORT FOR ORAL HEALTH. STARTING IN 2021, THE FOUNDATION REBRANDED MOM CLINICS FROM LARGE-SCALE EVENTS TO MORE FREQUENT, SMALLER MINI-MOMS. SINCE THEN, THE FOUNDATION HAS AVERAGED TWO TO FOUR MINI-MOMS PER QUARTER. THE FOUNDATION IS EXCITED TO RESUME A LARGE MOM IN SEPTEMBER 2024. ADDITIONALLY, STARTING IN 2021, THE FOUNDATION AND ITS PARTNERS BEGAN HOSTING DENTURE ACTION DAYS ("DAD") CLINICS AS A NEW SERVICE EVERY FEW YEARS. ANOTHER DAD IS SCHEDULED FOR SUMMER 2024. THE FOUNDATION IS LOOKING AT NEW MODELS AND ALTERNATIVES TO PROVIDE CARE TO VULNERABLE POPULATIONS. THE FOUNDATION IS INVESTING IN ADDITIONAL INFECTION CONTROL MEASURES TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE AT FUTURE CLINICS.
