EVERYBODY WINS DC OFFERS THREE PROGRAMS THAT HELP CHILDREN BECOME ENGAGED AND EXCITED READERS: POWER READERS - A ONE-ON-ONE MENTORING PROGRAM THAT CONNECTS VOLUNTEERS WITH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS TO READ TOGETHER FOR AN HOUR A WEEK THROUGHOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. STORYTIME - A READ-ALOUD PROGRAM THAT BRINGS VOLUNTEERS INTO SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITY SETTINGS TO SHARE BOOKS WITH SMALL GROUPS OF STUDENTS AND ENGAGE IN A GUIDED DISCUSSION OR ACTIVITY. THE BOOK PROJECT - A FREE DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM THAT GIVES AWAY THOUSANDS OF FREE BOOKS EACH YEAR TO CHILDREN AND CLASSROOMS. DURING EWDC'S MOST RECENT PROGRAM YEAR, POWER READERS, STORYTIME AND THE BOOK PROJECT REACHED OVER 5,000 CHILDREN, DELIVERED 1,900 MENTORING HOURS, AND GAVE AWAY ALMOST 12,000 FREE BOOKS.
