CANINE AND HUMAN TEAM MEMBERS UNDERGO APPROXIMATELY 8,000-10,000 HOURS OF TRAINING ANNUALLY, WHICH, COMBINED WITH THE DOGS' NATURAL KEEN SENSE OF SMELL AND LOVE OF THE "WORK", GOES A LONG WAY TOWARD INCREASING THE CHANCE OF A SUCCESSFUL FIND. CSD HAS 9 CANINES CERTIFIED FOR AIR SCENT, 6 CANINES CERTIFIED IN HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION ON LAND, 3 CANINES CERTIFIED IN HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION IN WATER, AND 3 CANINES CERTIFIED IN CRIME SCENES. CSD CURRENTLY HAS 6 CANINE HANDLERS IN TRAINING, 6 CANINE CANDIDATES IN TRAINING FOR AIR SCENT, 3 CANINE CANDIDATES IN TRAINING FOR HUMAN REMAINS DETECTION ON LAND, AND 6 FLANKERS IN TRAINING.
