The Weatherization Assistance Program began in 1976 as a way to combat high energy bills for Americas most vulnerable citizens. The U.S. Department of Energy grans funding to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD), which then contracts with local agencies to deliver weatherization services to eligible residents in every part of the commonwealth. Clinch Valley Community Action weatherized 15 homes during the program year of 2024-2025, which also included 11 new heating systems and 7 new roofs for the completion of the homes.
