LOUDOUN HUNGER RELIEF (LHR) PROVIDES FREE GROCERIES TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS EXPERIENCING FOOD INSECURITY IN LOUDOUN COUNTY. LHR ALSO PARTNERS WITH OTHER NONPROFITS AND COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS TO DISTRIBUTE FOOD AND CONNECT PEOPLE TO ADDITIONAL RESOURCES. IN SEPTEMBER 2023, LOUDOUN HUNGER RELIEF OPENED A NEW CLIENT CHOICE FREE FOOD MARKET AND COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER, WHICH HOUSES THREE CO-LOCATED NONPROFITS. LOUDOUN HUNGER RELIEF DISTRIBUTED 2.5 MILLION POUNDS OF FREE FOOD DIRECTLY TO HOUSEHOLDS AND PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS TO HELP ALLEVIATE HUNGER IN LOUDOUN COUNTY. MORE THAN 14,000 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVED FOOD ON 177,000 SERVICE INSTANCES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. 60% OF THE HOUSEHOLDS SERVED HAD CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 18. OVER 50% OF THE FOOD DISTRIBUTED BY LOUDOUN HUNGER RELIEF WAS FRESH, WHOLE FOODS, INCLUDING 800,000 POUNDS OF FRESH PRODUCE. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, LOUDOUN HUNGER RELIEF SERVES AS A PRODUCE HUB, COLLECTING, STORING, AND DISTRIBUTING FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES TO OTHER FOOD PANTRIES IN LOUDOUN COUNTY.
