Mission

Arlington Senior Babe Ruth Baseball operates two integrated baseball programs for Arlington and other nearby communities' 13-18 year old players: an open-registration program available to all; and a select or travel baseball program for players from the open-registration program who choose to try-out, and are selected, to play and train year around with paid coaches. Our registration has ranged from 150 to 350 players over the years.

The core program is the open-registration program for 13-18 year old players. There are 3-4 leagues, depending on the number and ages of registrants. Each league involves different ages or skill levels. The 14-15 year old players are in two leagues, depending on whether they are also playing for their high school baseball programs or not. The program and these teams are chartered with National Babe Ruth Leagues, Inc. in New Jersey, and our all-star teams at each level participate in district, state and regional Babe Ruth sponsored tournaments. In 2109 our 15-year old all star team won the Southeast Region Babe Ruth tournament and went to the 15 year old Babe Ruth World Series.

Integrated with our House leagues described above, we have a select or travel baseball program made up of registrants who choose to try out, and upon selection commit to pay additional fees to pay coaches and to cover travel to tournaments in Northern Virginia and elsewhere in the mid-Atlantic. This program, with teams at the different age levels, we call the Arlington Senators. This program has paid coaches, a competitive fall schedule, and winter in-door training.
