A Musical Showcase is a program that provides the opportunity for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) elementary, middle school, and high school students who participate in choral and instrumental ensembles to perform at the Belk Theater in uptown Charlotte. All CMS ensembles are eligible to apply. Selections are made by blind audios submitted to a panel of adjudicators. In 2019, over 640 (CMS) students representing 13 different schools - performed before an audience of approximately 2000 people. Free tickets were provided to students families who could not afford to purchase tickets. A $500 check was presented to each of the participating ensembles. Meals are provided for lunch and dinner... serving approximately 1000 students, teachers, and volunteers. Transportation to and from the theater, payment for substitute teachers, and any other associated costs are paid by Charlotte Concerts. There is no cost to any student or teacher who participates in this program.

Charlotte Concerts underwrites the costs of all CMS Middle School and CMS High School Honors Choruses, Orchestras, and Bands. Students can participate in the 2 day events which include working with a clinician and a performance for the public. Any student who is selected participates at no cost to the student.Charlotte Concerts provides new band and orchestra instruments for middle and high school students in underserved schools.Charlotte Concerts provides scholarships for students to take private lessons through a program sponsored by another non-profit.Choral notebooks were provided to a CMS high school which could not afford to buy the notebooks for members of the high school chorus/choir.
