RESEARCH AND EDUCATION - NORTH CAROLINA SMALL GRAIN GROWERS ASSOCIATION STRIVES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF ALL OUR MEMBERS WITH QUALITY RESEARCH PROJECTS LOCATED THOUGHOUT THE STATE. PRESENTLY WE HAVE WORK BEING FUNDED FOR THE NORTHEAST PART OF THE STATE WITH NORTHEAST AG EXPO, BEAUFORT COUNTY, ROBESON COUNTY AND AT THE SALISBURY RESEARCH STATION. EACH YEAR THERE ARE FIELD DAYS IN THESE LOCATIONS FOR FARMERS TO VISIT IN MAY TO REVIEW THE RESULTS OF OUR WORK. IN ADDITION, WE FUND PROJECTS WITH USDA-ARS, DR. DAVID MARSHALL, RALEIGH, NC AND OTHER WORK WITH DR. PAUL MURPHY AND DR. RON HEINIGER IN OTHER LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE. THE ASSOCIATION IS CURRENTLY PROVIDING FUNDING FOR THE PLANT SCIENCES INITIATIVE AT N.C. STATE UNIVERSITY.

INDUSTRY PROMOTION AND DUES - NORTH CAROLINA SMALL GRAIN GROWERS IS PROUD TO BE AFFILIATED WITH THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WHEAT GROWERS (NAWG), WHICH WAS FOUNDED MORE THAN 60 YEARS AGO BY PRODUCERS WHO WANTED TO WORK TOGETHER FOR THE COMMON GOOD OF THE INDUSTRY. TODAY, NAWG WORKS WITH ITS 22 AFFILIATED STATE ASSOCIATIONS AND MANY COALITION PARTNERS ON ISSUES AS DIVERSE AS FEDERAL FARM POLICY, ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATION, THE FUTURE COMMERCIALIZATION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY IN WHEAT AND UNITING THE WHEAT INDUSTRY AROUND COMMON GOALS. IN ADDITION, THE ASSOCIATION PROMOTES NC SMALL GRAIN GROWERS THROUGH CONFERENCES, NEWSLETTERS, LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, FFA FUNDING AND OTHER EVENTS.
