DURANGO AREA TOURISM OFFICE, INC. (DBA VISIT DURANGO) OPERATED AS A DESTINATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROMOTING THE DURANGO AND LA PLATA COUNTY AREA AS A TOURIST DESTINATION, ENGAGING IN SALES AND MARKETING ACTIVITIES, AND PROVIDING VISITOR SERVICES TO GROUPS AND TOURISTS. VISIT DURANGOS ROLE WAS TO BUILD BRAND AWARENESS, ATTRACT VISITORS TO THE AREA, INFORM THEM ABOUT VISITOR OPPORTUNITIES, STIMULATE THE LOCAL ECONOMY, AND ULTIMATELY IMPROVE RESIDENTS QUALITY OF LIFE. IN APRIL 2025, THE ORGANIZATION TRANSITIONED ITS OPERATIONS TO THE CITY OF DURANGO FOLLOWING A BOARD-APPROVED MERGER, AND THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS SUBSEQUENTLY VOTED TO DISSOLVE THE CORPORATION.
