LOCAL HISTORY CURRICULUM & CLASSES FOR LOCAL 4TH GRADE STUDENTS: THE BOARD MEMBERS OF THE MUSEUM PROVIDE A SERIES OF 8 CLASSES IN LOCAL HISTORY WITH A FOCUS ON THE HISTORY OF THE SWART-WILCOX HOUSE, BUILT IN 1807. THERE ARE 2 CLASSES HELD IN EACH OF THE 4 ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE CITY OF ONEONTA. THE 1ST CLASS INCLUDES A POWER POINT PRESENTATION FOLLOWED BY A SPECIAL LEARNING ACTIVITY. THE 2ND CLASS, GIVEN A WEEK LATER, INVOLVES A FIELD TRIP TO THE SWART-WILCOX HOUSE MUSEUM WHERE THE STUDENTS GET A TOUR OF THE MUSEUM AND DO A HANDS-ON CRAFT PROJECT INVOLVING SOMETHING THEY SAW AT THE MUSEUM. THIS PROGRAM INVOLVES APPROXIMATELY 110 4TH GRADE STUDENTS IN THE FOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THE CITY OF ONEONTA. ALL SERVICES ARE DONATED.
