Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, the third-oldest Habitat for humanity affiliate in the world, is an independent, nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that has served its community as an affiliate of Habitat for humanity international since 1978 and has provided housing solutions for nearly 400 local families. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put god's love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. (Continued on Schedule O)Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all. Sea Island Habitat for Humanity has an open-door policy: all who believe that everyone needs a decent, affordable place to live are welcome to help with the work, regardless of race, religion, age, gender, political views, or any of the other distinctions that too often divide people. In short, Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and serves people in need of decent housing regardless of race or religion. As a matter of policy, Habitat for Humanity International (http://www.Habitat.org) and its affiliated organizations do not proselytize. This means that Habitat will not offer assistance on the expressed or implied condition that people must either adhere to or convert to a particular faith, or listen and respond to messaging designed to induce conversion to a particular faith. The Sea Island Habitat for Humanity Restore exists to raise funds and awareness for our mission through the resale of donated furnishings and construction materials. We also offer deconstruction services for remodeling projects. Deconstruction is the removal of reusable building items to be sold at the Sea Island Habitat ReStore. Deconstruction reduces the disposal of usable material into landfills and provides affordable materials for renovation and smaller-scale construction projects. Fiscal Year in Review 2025 - During this fiscal year SIHH had 4 houses under construction! That is four families now living in safe environments.- SIHH repaired, replaced, or installed windows, ramps, and even roofs on over 100 homes in our community. This allowed our residents to remain in their homes.- SIHH continued in the design and permit process for our new 30-acre, 50-home neighborhood on Johns Island.- Our ReStore operation had a record sales year, ensuring more funds would be available to build and repair homes from the resale of donated goods.
