Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable, zero- interest mortgage. The Charleston affiliate was established in 1989 to serve the Charleston peninsula, North Charleston and West Ashley, and has since built 98 new homes, repaired over 99 homes and supported 60 homes in Honduras through tithes to Habitat for Humanity International. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves and their families. (Continued on Schedule O)Here are some of our accomplishments for and at the year ended June 30, 2025: - 99 new homes completed since 1989 - There are forty (40) active Charleston Habitat for Humanity mortgages. Three homeowners paid off during the fiscal year. - Over 1,027 volunteers provided roughly 15,270 hours of volunteer assistance via construction, ReStore, office projects and committee work. - Seven (7) partner families completed a total of 966 sweat equity hours. - Completed ten (ten) critical home repairs. - Raised a total of $108,595 for affordable housing at the 9th Annual Builder Bash Gala, $12,792 from the 3rd Annual Play House Project and $16,223 from the 5th Annual Oyster Roast. - Accepted two new partner families into the affordable homeownership program.
