GENERAL FEDERATION OF WOMENS CLUBS OF SOUTH CAROLINA (Womans Club of Rock H ill)

Project # 1 - 4H Sew Club - Each year it is one of the most exciting projects that our young girls look forward to with excitement and great expectations of the finished products. Once the sewing project is completed it is fashion show time. Each girl model their outfits. Our staircase is used as the grand entrance to their runway. The excitement of the girls parents grandparents siblings and club members is absolutely a sight to behold. A fellowship hour with refreshments is the culmination of the project. Our support continue for 4H clubs through the Clemson Extension to help further the Mission of the organization which is to help youth acquire knowledge develop life skills and form attitudes to enable them to become self directing productive and contributing members of society.Our club supported the Leadership Dinner to thank the 4H Club volunteers. # 2 - Pawabilities Thrift Store of the Humane Society of York County. This organization helps save the lives of cats and dogs in our community. A monetary contribution to aide in helping to save the lives of our most loyal and lovable creatures. Project # 3 - Farmacy is located in the Southside of Rock Hill and some of our residents who live in that area is more than I mile from a grocery store thereby making that area a food desert. Farmacy provides local grown fruits and vegetables for those residents for little to no cost . Pharmacy offers Food Fit Classes Senior Gardening and Canning. Project # 4 - Chester Bee Association - Monetary contribution to help in protecting bee population. We must do everything possible to protect our pollinators. If our pollinators are not protected it will negatively impact our food chain. Let us become advocates of preserving all our pollinators. Project # 5 - Ebenezer Avenue School - Library books relating to preserving our environment were purchased and put in the library in an effort to educate our young people about the importance of preserving our environment. Project # 6 - Better Bound Bookstore & Youth Development - This unique organization helps at risk youth learn how to market and sell gently used books clothing and small accessories. The concept contributes to environmental conservation by preventing usable items from ending up in the landfill. Aside from the environmental conservation the at risk youth range from being homeless domestic abuse drug addicted homes and in some cases being abandoned by their parents. These youth are being taught finance Ged readiness how to maintain the online store inventory control and the business skills necessary to maintain and operate a business. Each youth is paid for each hour they work in the bookstore.

Project # 1 - Anchor Ministries -continues to be a strong presence in York County by providing faith-based recovery services for those working to overcome addition. As a partner with Anchor Ministries we contributed a monetary donation to assist in the opening of another recovery home in Rock Hill SC area. The ministry started a toiletry and household supply drive to collect funds and items or both Houses Tabetha House and House of James The. Homes are local sober living facilities that offer fresh starts to participants enrolled in Anchor Ministries recovery programs. Project # 2 - Elderly Veterans - In our outreach efforts to help ease the financial burden $200 gift cards in $20 increments from QT was presented to our local VA outpatient clinic to assist the elderly veterans with transportation to and from Doctors appointments. The VA Clinic was most grateful for this donation. Project # 3 - National Day of Service - The Womans Club of Rock Hill was honored to partner with our Sister Club the JR Womans Club of Rock Hill to participate in their third 3 annual Great Rock Hill Food Fight to benefit one of our local food pantries Pilgrims Inn. This was chosen as our National Day of Service Project. The Food Fight started September 1st and ran through September 30th with seven 7 local businesses that participated as food collection sites as well as five additional community sponsors. The food drive was a contest between the business sites that collected the most food by weight won a trophy with community bragging rights. This year we collected just over 1000 pounds of non-perishable food for Pilgrims Inn! The volunteers from both clubs had a wonderful time on Saturday September 28th NDS getting out in the community and raising awareness of food insecurity in our own neighborhoods. We also used this opportunity to share about the Womans Club and our purpose. # 4 - Safe Passage - Our final project in 2024 was providing a strong sponsorship to Safe Passages annual fundraising event. Safe Passages provides services and advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic violence child abuse and sexual trauma. This years event It takes a Community was held at Winthrop University McBryde Hall. Club members enjoyed night of fabulous food music silent and live auction and compelling guest speakers. The fundraiser was an overwhelming success enabling Safe Passage to continue to provide the the well needed service to its victims of horrific abuses.
