CUMBERLAND CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER

Founded in 1986, the CCPC seeks to share the love of Christ by compassionately and confidentially serving women and families experiencing unplanned pregnancies using a whole person approach. Information on parenting, adoption and abortion is presented so she can make a pregnancy plan using reliable information and with support. Because every life has intrinsic value, we never refer for abortion. Our services include ongoing, in-depth peer counseling, prenatal and parenting classes, and the provision of essential material items for a few years. Our services are free of charge, and we receive no federal funding. In 2023, we served 1,135 individuals with 3,391 visits. 690 babies and/or their moms received maternity and baby items. 120 clients took prenatal or parenting classes.

In 1990, the CCPC expanded its programs to include the Sexual Risk Avoidance Program. The Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) Program educates adolescents (primarily in public middle and high schools), about the physical, emotional, and psychological impacts of sexual activity outside of a permanently committed relationship, while encouraging sexual abstinence until marriage. Our certified sexual risk avoidance educators present this information in an age-appropriate format using well-documented and medically accurate information, while affirming each person's intrinsic worth. The goal of the sexual risk avoidance program is to teach students how to eliminate (not just reduce) the risks of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In the 2023-24 school year, the SRA program made 131 presentations to 4,186 students.
