The Foundation operates the Matthews Heritage Museum in a restored 1880 home which it owns. Staffed by a paid director and volunteer docents, the museum has been a historical asset to the area since opening in 2013. Docents are trained to give general tours to the public. Through the local elementary school, a tour has been developed appropriate to early elementary grades. Many local schools have toured the museum and a new generation is becoming aware of the local history. The museum is open three days a week.

The Matthews Historical Foundation owns and operated the historic Reid House as a special event venue. This property, built in 1890, was the town doctors home and has been the site of countless weddings and parties. During 2021, numberous special events and business meetings were held there. The Foundation is responsible for all gardening, maintenance and upkeep of the house and property.
