Dade County Farm Bureau board members, executive staff, and volunteers worked tirelessly in displaying their opposition to a proposed Heat Ordinance and rigorously communicating with elected officials the negative and potentially detrimental effects it could have on the agricultural industry. We formed a coalition with other targeted industries to fight in opposition of the proposed Heat Ordinance. On March 5th, 2024, the Florida Senate voted 28-11 to pass SB 1492 which preempted local government from determining workplace heat standards that go beyond those required by federal law.

This week is used to celebrate and recognize the beneficial partnerships between rural and urban communities that make our food supply safe and plentiful.
