Theatre Programming: American Stages 23-24 Season saw steady growth, however has still not reached pre pandemic attendance or donations. The Mainstage is American Stages core programming. We produced five Mainstage plays during our 23-24 season. These five plays were attended by 10,314 patrons. 23-24 also continued our American Stage in the Park, a more than 30 year old community tradition. This five week event was held at Demens Landing Park in downtown St. Petersburg drew 14,953 patrons. In order to make theatre accessible to all, both our Mainstage and Park shows had significant ticket discounts for seniors, students and active duty military, with some eligible for free tickets.

Education: Our education and outreach department serves adults and children through our Drama School with on-site classes in acting, musical theatre and improv (250 students served). Additionally, we offered 8 weeks of Summer Camp for children of all ages. Each week leads to a sharing performance for family and friends. We happily hosted 350+ students and 700 of their families and friends during Summer 2024. We also offered school residencies in the Pinellas County school system primarily via our Write On! and Write On!: Si Se Puede programs which work with students to develop original plays in elementary, middle, and high schools for the ESOL program Si Se Puede. This playwriting course taught by our experienced Teaching Artists culminates in those plays being read by professional actors in class which allows for further play development. Our elementary students perform their own to enhance their English language and literacy skills. With a focus on historically under-resourced schools, Write On! & Write On!: Si Se Puede is a significant investment in the future of our community, in 23-24 we worked with 500 students. Our School Tour program in 23-24 was an original bilingual musical production that toured through county schools, reaching approximately 10,200 students.
