The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach Inc

During the 2023-2024 season, the Preservation Foundation continued its campaign to revitalize the 20-acre Phipps Ocean Park; hosted the first Robert M. Grace leadership symposium that brought together community leaders, preservationists, and architecture enthusiasts to reflect on Grace's profound impact on Palm Beach; published The Architecture and Advocacy of John and Jane Volk by Dr. Jane S. Day; and increased our advocacy presence within the Town of Palm Beach to protect our landmark buildings. During 2022-2023 season, the Preservation Foundation launched the public phase of a $30 million campaign to revitalize the 20-acre Phipps Ocean Park, with a design by renowned landscape architect Raymond Jungles and award-winning architectural firm (Continues on Schedule O) Fairfax & Sammons, that relocates the Little Red Schoolhouse to the heart of the park surrounding it with new, vernacular architecture and restored ecosystems of native plants; and published the first children's book on architect Addison Mizner with author Bob Forbes and illustrator Barbara McClintock.The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach is dedicated to preserving the architectural and cultural heritage and the unique quality of the Town of Palm Beach. Through advocacy initiatives, educational programs, architectural resources, and cultural events, the Foundation's goal is to encourage the community to learn about and save the historic sites that truly make Palm Beach special. Since 1980, the Preservation Foundation has undertaken numerous projects throughout the island that protect the heritage and enhance the beauty of Palm Beach. Millions of dollars have been raised to preserve and restore historic resources like Sea Gull Cottage and Town Hall. Projects such as Pan's Garden have fostered a deeper appreciation for the island's botanical heritage. Most recently, the beautification project at Bradley Park transformed a 4.4-acre public park located on the town's historic main street.Along with special exhibitions and publications that advance scholarship in the history of Palm Beach, the Preservation Foundation offers educational programs that serve 6,000 students annually. Heritage Education outreach programs teach the concept of learning about the history and culture of the community through the medium of local architecture. Field trips to Pan's Garden and the Little Red Schoolhouse create immersive experiences that engage the next generation of stewards.
