The Neighborhood Center of South Lake (TNC) believes no one should go hungry. While many know us primarily as a food pantry, we are much more. As a Family Stability Center, we take a holistic approach to ending hungerthrough dedicated case management, access to a wide range of resources, and strong community partnerships. Our Mission: Enriching Neighbors Lives and Enhancing Dignity by Providing Food Security and Abundant Resources. In 2024 we provided nutritious groceries to 106,427 individuals in south Lake County including 39,329 children, and 199,800 school break meal during the 14 weeks schools are closed throughout the year. In addition, 839 of our clients accessed our case management and support services for a total of 5,034 individual support services provided helping our neighbors on the path to self-sufficiency.

Through our School Break Food Program, families with school-aged children receive additional groceries to help bridge the food gap when schools are closed for one week or more; 14-Weeks School Break Food Program, (Spring Break, Summer Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas) Each child is provided with 10 meals and five snacks per week of the break. Distributions take place the week before each scheduled school closure. This program helps level the nutritional and educational playing fields, ensuring children can focus on learning rather than hunger. With access to nutritious food during school breaks, children can enjoy their time off, stay healthy, and return to class ready to learn and thrive.
