ProStart is National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation program/ curriculum with a focus on culinary arts and restaurant management. New Hampshire has 16 Career & Technical Education Centers participating in ProStart. One of the components of this program is an annual state competition held in Concord, NH followed by a national competition held in Baltimore, MD. In 2023-2024, 10 schools competed at the state competition. With students, educators, spectators, and industry-credentialled judges, the event hosted 200+ people. One school competed in two categories at the national competition. April is proclaimed New Hampshire Hospitality Month by the Governor. With the "month" spanning March - May, middle school and high school students go behind the scenes of the hospitality and tourism industry, visiting ski resorts, hotels, restaurants, stadiums, theaters, and more to learn about to vast career pathways and opportunities available. In 2023-2024, between kick-off events at post-secondary schools and tours, we hosted 400+ students. Nine scholarships (four high school, five post-secondary). $24,000 awarded (two, $10,000 scholarships provided by Heron Point Seafood). Professional development for current employees in the hospitality and tourism industry. Focus on leadership, communication, and conflict resolution. Over two cohorts, 40 attendees and 35 Certificate of Completion awarded. 84 women from all levels and areas of the hospitality and tourism industry. Topics: Exploring Personality Types and Duh!
