FAMILY PRESERVATION ACT:WE ADVOCATED FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES DURING THE SHORT SESSION OF THE KENTUCKY GENERAL ASSEMBLY. WE WORKED WITH DIRECTLY IMPACTED ADVOCATES ACROSS OUR PRIORITY ISSUE AREAS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES AND MEET WITH LEGISLATORS TO DISCUSS THE IMPACTS OF VARIOUS PIECES OF LEGISLATION UNDER CONSIDERATION. WE LAUNCHED NEW LEGISLATION, THE FAMILY PRESERVATION ACT, THAT ADDRESSES THE ROOT CAUSES OF CRIME, WHILE KEEPING FAMILIES TOGETHER. THE LEGISLATION PASSED THE HOUSE UNANIMOUSLY BEFORE STALLING IN THE SENATE BEFORE THE END OF SESSION. WE LOOK FORWARD TO BRINGING THE LEGISLATION'S MOMENTUM BACK TO THE 2026 GENERAL ASSEMBLY WITH HOPES FOR FINAL PASSAGE IN THE NEW YEAR.
