ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE UNLOCKS HUMAN POTENTIAL, BUILDS COMMUNITY, AND ENRICHES QUALITY OF LIFE BY ENGAGING PEOPLE IN THEATRE THAT REFLECTS THE WONDER AND COMPLEXITY OF OUR TIME. ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE WAS FORMED IN 1964 WITH THE MERGING OF ACTORS, INC. AND THEATRE LOUISVILLE. THE THEATRE ESTABLISHED A COMPLEX IN THE ORIGINAL BANK OF LOUISVILLE BUILDING (THE THIRD-OLDEST BUILDING STILL STANDING IN DOWNTOWN LOUISVILLE), AND STILL OCCUPIES THIS BUILDING WITH THREE FULLY OPERATING THEATRE VENUES.THROUGHOUT ITS HISTORY, ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE HAS LED THE WAY IN ARTISTIC INNOVATION AND EXPRESSION, WHICH HAS RESULTED IN THE THEATRE RECEIVING THE THREE MOST PRESTIGIOUS AWARDS GIVEN TO REGIONAL THEATRES: THE MARGO JONES AWARD, THE SHUBERT FOUNDATION'S JAMES N. VAUGHAN MEMORIAL AWARD, AND A TONY AWARD. ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE PRIMARILY SERVES LOUISVILLE, KY AS WELL AS SOUTHERN INDIANA AND SEEKS TO CELEBRATE AND SERVE OUR REGION AS THE STATE THEATRE OF KENTUCKY.THIS SEASON WE FEATURED SEVERAL FULLY PRODUCED PRODUCTIONS INCLUDING DRACULA, FLEX, AND HERSHEL AND THE HANUKKAH GOBLINS. EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES ARE INTEGRAL TO ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE AND THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS STUDENT MATINEES, IN-SCHOOL RESIDENCIES, AND A SERIES OF LIFELONG LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT OFFERINGS. AS AN ARTS AND CULTURE SERVICE ORGANIZATION, ACTORS THEATRE OF LOUISVILLE SEEKS TO BE A PLACE OF BELONGING SUPPORTING THE WELL BEING AND FULL FLOURISHING OF ALL.
