WEE CARE NURSERY PROVIDES HIGH QUALITY, AFFORDABLE CHILD CARE TO LOCAL AREA FAMILIES AT RISK OF CHILD ABUSE AND NEGLECT. THE FACILITY SERVES CHILDREN OF AGES 6 WEEKS TO 5 YEARS OLD. IT IS A LICENSED CHILDCARE CENTER THAT IS ALSO A COMMUNITY SAFE SPOT. THE NURSERY ALSO PROVIDES FREE RESPITE CARE AND DROP IN CHILDCARE ON AN AVAILABLE BASIS. THE CENTER'S LITTLE LEARNERS PROGRAM SERVICES CHILDREN 0-5 YEARS OF AGE WITH MONTHLY HOME VISITS, SCREENINGS, AND SUPPORT HELPING TO BE KINDERGARTEN READY. THIS IS FUNDED IN LARGE PART BY UNITED WAY. THE CENTER OFFERS PARENTING EDUCATION CLASSES UTILIZING THE NURTURING PROGRAM CURRICULUMIN 12 GROUP SESSIONS. THE CLASSES ARE OFFERED TO ANY PARENT; HOWEVER, MOST PARENTS WHO ATTEND THESE CLASSES ARE IN MOST CASES REQUIRED TO ATTEND BY COURT ORDER OR ARE REFERRED BY A SOCIAL WORKER AS A RESULT OF AN ALLEGATION OF ABUSE. SUPPORT GROUPS MEET MONTHLY AND ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. THESE PROGRAMS ARE FUNDED BY PREVENT CHILD ABUSE OF KENTUCKY. THE CENTER ALSO OFFERS PARENT EDUCATION CLINICS FOR PARENTS WHO ARE DIVORCING. VISE PROGRAM IS A SERVICE OFFERED TO VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WHO ARE IN NEED OF SUPPORT AND EDUCATION.
